Ok Moms, one of the questions I get over and over and over is how to target the inner and outer thighs. I’m not gonna lie, as a curvy hip girl, I feel your hip pain. New moms, especially, have thigh panic, as during pregnancy your body accumulates fat (necessary, btw!) in the hips/thighs and then doesn’t always let go of it all when that baby pops out. But never fear, I have a fantastic inner/outer thigh workout here for you. Many of my clients have used these exercises in their postpartum leg workouts as part of their mission to lose baby weight. I am rushing to get this posted in time to save you! Save you from what??? YOUR WEEKEND!
Are you one of those people who is “good” all week and then let’s yourself go a bit on the weekend. Does your weekend start midday Friday? If you answered yes, you’re like most folks. You start fresh every Monday with all sorts of promises to your self regarding food and fitness. Awesome! You’re pretty on top of it until Thursday. Then you start to get into the weekend mentality:
“I was good all week, I can reward myself a bit.”
“I worked out three times this week, I don’t need to workout over the weekend.”
“I saved all my cheat days/meals/calories/points up all week so I can indulge.”
“If I’m good all week I deserve to whatever the heck I want over the weekend.”
This kind of thinking can get you into all sorts of trouble, my friend. If you cheat/indulge/fall off the wagon/stop exercising on Friday/Saturday/Sunday, you are letting go of your goals 40% of the time. 40%!!!!! That’s a huge number. Losing focus 40% of the time never gets anyone what they want. So ya gotta reign it in a bit. Read more »
My lovely assistant, Brenda, has an eye for amazing recipes that embody whole foods, high nutrition and a picturesque quality so great you are drooling just reading through the recipes. So, I’ve set her out to find some of the best recipes to share with you on What To Eat Wednesdays.
Hopefully you all got to make the kale chips I posted last Wednesday. They came straight from Brenda’s own food blog, www.FriedEggsandToast.com. I was so excited to hear how many of you tried them out AND shared them with your kids. Many happy kids eating kale chips last week – I love it!
This week Brenda shared one of her favorite recipe sites with me, Smitten Kitten. What a fantastic blog. In addition to hearty, healthy recipes and fabulous pictures (essential for me), I love the writing. Anyone who can write with knowledge, expertise, a touch of sarcasm and a good dose of hilarity is someone I want to follow. Heck, that’s someone I want to be friends with! Read more »
Are you a sweet or salty person? I use to be a sweet person. A girl’s gotta have her chocolate, right?! But over time, I’ve somehow become more of a salty person. I c-r-a-v-e the stuff. So I’m always looking for recipes that can give me my salt but also deliver some nutritional value. Not an easy combo to find….
Until now. Enter kale chips! I know, I was skeptical too. But, please, try before your judge! You may be very surprised. Kale chips have become a favorite among many of my moms!
What’s even better is that kids LOVE them. Kids are going to eat whatever is around the house, right? If you don’t have regular chips, they’re pretty much forced to try these babies. So have them try ’em and see what happens. You may transform the nature of snacking in your house!
Here’s a super easy recipe on how to make kale chips. This recipe was posted by one of my favorite ladies, Brenda Alvarez, of Fried Eggs and Toast. I love her blog. You’ll be seeing more of her recipes in the future.
Ok, go make these badboys and let me know whatcha think!
We have a tradition of having Super Bowl parties. The whole thing is really funny, as my husband and I are really not big football fans. Actually, I’m the opposite of a football fan. I don’t get the sport. I don’t really enjoy watching it. I think it’s kinda barbaric really. Just a bunch of guys crashing into each other, getting injured and getting concussions. Then they retire and they have brain damage and lifelong joint problems. Maybe it’s worth it because they make millions???? Can’t really think of any other reason. Like I said, I just don’t get it. But we have a party every year to celebrate the big game. Pretty funny when I think about it. Read more »
Note: Smiles are free. Give them away whenever you can. One smile can change your day (perfect example below. . .)
Do you notice when you spend too much time at home you get cranky? If you’re home with little ones, you know what I mean. It just you and the tots and no adult conversation. It’s easy to get stuck in your own head and get a little crazy. I go through this all the time. I call it Cranky Sara Syndrome (CSS). I spend hours in front of the computer blogging and working. Just me in my little bubble. I notice routinely how if I’m at all cranky, being by myself makes it so much worse. I can build the smallest thing into something huge in my head. I can turn the smallest worry into a full blown panic attack. My head gets in my way all the time.
Honestly, my best way to deal with this is through exercise. Nothing like a few endorphins to calm me down, mellow me out and remind me that I am truly blessed. My worries are minimal compared to many people. I hope that you use exercise that way too. I’m telling you exercise is my anti-depressant and my mood stabilizer. It makes all the difference in how I handle my head and my CSS. Read more »
