The Truth About Pilates

By |

After my post on 5 Steps to Flat Abs a few days ago, I’ve had some questions about appropriate ab exercises. I asked one of my colleagues, Sylvia Favela, a Pilates expert, to take the reigns on this. I know plenty of great core exercises, but Pilates is truly an excellent way to strengthen your core and re-shape your mid section after pregnancy. Sylvia is going to tell you exactly how and why Pilates Read more »

5 Steps to Flat Abs. (STOP Crunching.)

By |

I’ve said it before – I hate crunches. They are probably one of the most popular exercises out there and they are a complete waste of time. If you’ve done any of my programs, you will note you never do crunches. That is for a very good reason. They don’t work. I do not know anyone who got a flat belly from doing crunches. I know people who have done up to 1000 crunches a day and still don’t have a flat belly. Why torture yourself with an exercise that is incredibly boring and does not work???

Do you compare yourself to other women? I do. I know, it’s not healthy, but it’s also very human. It is part of our culture. I try really hard NOT to do it, but little voices come creeping in my head, just like I’m sure they do yours.

Sometimes I have to yell really loud and tell them to, “SHUT UP!” Read more »

Top 20 Snacks Under 200 Calories

I get asked about healthy snacks all the time. So I thought I’d put together a list of some clean eating snacks that are super convenient. When compiling this list I was very strategic about the foods I combined. You should be this way too. Snacking is a means of fueling your body, not just stuffing your face because you’re tired or cranky or ravenous. If you want to fuel your body instead of stuffing your face, you have to take some care to combine foods appropriately.

You’ll notice that every snack has a source of protein or fat. This is essential at every meal and snack, everyday. You don’t want to just slam down a piece of fruit, as it will not fuel you appropriately. That’s not to say fruit Read more »

Full Body, Fat Burning Workout

Almost 30 Weeks!

This is the workout I did today at almost 30 Weeks. Not pregnant, I would have knocked this out in under 30 minutes. However, at almost 30 weeks pregnant, I had to take a number of breaks to catch my breath and re-focus. It took me almost 45 minutes. No worries on taking your time some days, right?!

This workout is designed much like our SuperMom Workouts – to be done in a short amount of time with little to no rest between exercises. This will give you cardio in addition to the killer strength training provided by these full body moves. It is these kinds of full body moves that really get your heart rate crankin’, giving you an awesome metabolic benefit for the next 24-48 hours. This is what BURNS FAT, my friends!
