Tabata Workout Love

By |

Have you heard of Tabata workout training? If not, you are really missing out. Tabata workouts are my current fave kind of cardio. It is a form of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). You can do a ton of Tabata workouts at home. And each tabata workout can be completed in 4-16 minutes. Tabatas are among the most fast and efficient way to burn calories and fat, far superior to steady state cardio on the elliptical or treadmill.

Here’s the format for a Tabata Workout:

Work HARD x :20 seconds
Rest x :10 seconds
Repeat x 8 sets (totals 4 minutes)

The cleanest store bought burrito out there

Somedays you have time for nothing. You know what I mean. All the sudden it’s 3:30 and you haven’t eaten lunch. Today was one of those days for me. I try to NOT let that happen. But sometimes life gets in the way. It happens to even the best planners…

When this happens to me, I always have a backup lunch plan: Amy’s Organics Burritos. These are the cleanest burritos out there. Also, a great ratio of fat/carbs/protein/fiber. Organic ingredients, no preservatives, no additives. REAL FOOD. Plus, I love that I can get a gluten free, dairy free burrito. The “tortilla” is made from garbanzo flour (extra protein & fiber, yay!!) I throw some sliced avocado on top and I’m in lunch Heaven in 2 minutes.

If you’re someone who relies on frozen foods from time to time, check out Amy’s stuff. It is amazing quality for frozen meals. Good for you, good for your kids.

If you have a favorite Amy’s Organics item, please share below in the comments. We’d love to know!

Benefits of Circuit Training (+ full workout!)

When you’re at the gym, do you see those people who do an exercise and then wait 1-3 minutes reading a mag, checking their phone and then they do another set? You’re not one of those people are you???? If you are you won’t be after reading this. These people make me crazy. In addition to being gym hogs (tying up equipment for long periods of time), they are wasting their own time. Circuit training is a WAY more effective and efficient use of time. ESPECIALLY FOR MOMS! You can get up to three times the amount of work into a workout if you use circuits. See? EFFECTIVE and EFFICIENT. You don’t have the time to workout any other way! Read more »

My client Erika has a long standing relationship with running. A long standing history of NOT liking it, that is. She has told me over our past two years that she finds it hard and overwhelming. It just isn’t something that feels good to her. So she has avoided it. Like the plague. Instead she comes to my Sync Fitness Boot Camp three days a week. She can do more push ups and jump squats than practically anyone else in the room. Anytime we have any sort of timed competition, Erika comes in first or second place. So, clearly she’s a natural athlete. But she does not run. Read more »

Sara’s Spicy & Savory Chicken

I was a vegetarian for 15 years. Now I eat meat pretty much everyday. I have to admit, being a vegetarian was pretty easy for me. I don’t really care for a lot of meats. You will probably think there’s something completely wrong with me wwhen I tell you I don’t even like bacon. And I think meatloaf is about the most disgusting thing ever. My poor mom used to make these fancy Sunday dinners of Savory Rump Roast and mashed potatoes. I would refuse to eat (also not a fan of mashed potatoes, something really is wrong with me, huh??)

But about 5 years ago, after 15 years of vegetarianism, I really wanted to focus on building some lean muscle mass and losing body fat. Contrary to popular belief, vegetarians are not all skinny mini’s. In fact, many vegetarians are overweight because they substitute meat with high carb foods (pastas, breads) and a ton of soy (which is highly allergenic and processed, leading to bloating and water retention).
