Embarrassed in Vegas

By |

I swear these kinds of things only happen to me. . . Again, the red headed curse. . . I went to check out of my Vegas hotel room this morning and there was an extra $40 charge on my bill. When I questioned it, the receptionist told me it was for the “Sex Kit” I used from the wet bar.

I’m standing in the check out line amongst my colleagues, mind you. They all know I’m married and they all know I came to Vegas alone. So, I’m turning bright red and insisting I did not use or even open said “Sex Kit.” However, I did MOVE the “Sex Kit” when I went to take this picture for you the other night. I thought it would be a little awkward to have that front and center in the photo, as it was placed by the hotel.

The receptionist tells me that everything on that counter is weighted and if you lift it up you get charged for it. Ughhhhh. I knew the fridge was like this, which is why they brought me my own extra fridge to the room, so I wouldn’t move any of the mini bar items and get charge when making room for the food I traveled with (What? Me? High maintenance?!?!?)

So I explain that I moved the “Sex Kit” to take a picture of the wet bar – which only made them think I’m even more weird. There was just no way out of this. I mean, they did retract the “Sex Kit” charges, but I had to make a fool of myself over and over – with the extra fridge, traveling with my Tupperwares of food, taking these pictures.

But you know, at the end of the day, I’ll take it. I will let anyone laugh at me and embarrass me and accuse me of inappropriate behavior if it means I can keep my goals dialed in. It’s that important to me. If I didn’t make these sacrifices I would fail myself over and over again. And for me, failure is not an option. So I do things others would deem weird and/or strange and maybe inappropriate at times. I get weird looks and some odd comments and I take it all in stride, WITH PRIDE, because I always want to be the best version of myself.

Taking these little steps to stay goal oriented on my nutrition makes me feel really strong and empowered, like I’m proving something to myself. Do you feel that when you’ve gone out of your way to stay on track and focused on your nutrition or fitness? It’s a really good feeling. And it paves the way for you to stick to your commitments and make them habits, not just little trials here and there.

What is one thing you can do this week to stay focused on your current nutrition or fitness goals? Put it in print below to keep yourself accountable!

on girls weekends to the coast I take my own blender to make my breakfast- green smoothies!

and some of my friends say I am the hippee as we have a kombi van in our family and I eat salads 3 times a day plus spinach make my own hummus etc!

But like you say Sara, you want to be the best you can be you need to be prepared! When you reach your goals they are usually the ones who have not much to say then!

Keep it up Sara you remind I should require more of my self.

How embarrassing!! I never knew they would bring you your own mini-fridge. That is awesome. I love that you brought your own food for your trip. 😉

Oh, Sara! That makes me blush & laugh & just love you for sharing (that’s not the main reason I love you, though!). I need to stop worrying about what people think when I eat places (like @ people’s homes, church dinners, etc) if I don’t eat much of the fried, sugar laden foods they serve. I can be discrete & thankful for what I’m offered, but I want to start eating a small serving of my good stuff before I go, & then taste what I find when I arrive. I will have my first opportunity to do this tomorrow night!
