Exciting News and Gingerbread Confession

By |

Hey!

I have all sorts of things to share with you today. All fun stuff. And one confession. I’ll get the confession over with first I think. Then we can all move on with our day….

I just got back from the dentist. I hate the dentist. I’m not phobic about it, luckily. I know some people are. It’s just no fun, even though my dentist is very nice and tries to make everything pleasant. I feel like I’m sitting in a chair with someone dragging their nails across a chalkboard for my entire 45 minute appointment.

So I have a little deal with myself. I schedule my appointments with a little window of time to let me shop downtown afterward. I typically end up at Lululemon or Nordstrom. It makes me feel way better about going to the dentist.

However, this morning I was short on time after my appointment. I had just enough time to run into Starbucks to grab a much earned Americano. I decided that would have to be my post-dentist treat. And then, somehow, a piece of their holiday gingerbread found it’s way to me. I NEVER get treats at Starbucks. I swear.

Once I (sadly) realized this was in my possession I vowed to just “test” it. I would just have a few bites. For research. I could then warn all my clients that it’s not that great – so don’t even bother.

A few bites turned into a few more. I didn’t finish the piece, but I ate more than half. And, you know what, it wasn’t that great. WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH ME? Why didn’t I just throw it away after my initial determination that it wasn’t spectacular?? I’m totally disappointed in myself. And my fingers are still sticky with guilt (and evidence…)

Instead of clinging to this incident, I am moving forward. This will not define my day. I will move on and have a great day. I will not judge myself. I will just accept my actions as actions and let them be what they are. I know I can eat clean the rest of the day, as all my meals and snacks are planned and prepped. Thank you to my colleague and nutritionist, Mary Purdy (owner of Nourishing Balance), for helping me have a better attitude about these kinds of mistakes in judgement.

I am not a bad person for eating the dang gingerbread! I will not guilt myself into thinking otherwise.

And now you know I’m human…..

Phew – I feel better getting that off my chest. With confession done, I can share three REALLY AWESOME things with you.

AWESOME THING #1:
My local Seattle business, Sync Fitness, just won the Red Tricycle Most Awesome Mom’s Fitness Program Award. I am so excited about this and so happy to share this win with all my Seattle clients. These folks, mostly moms like you, are the ones who inspired and motivated me to start Fit Healthy Moms. This win means so much to me, as it is a direct reflection of the effort and energy all my moms put into their fitness and health. Thank you for sharing this honor with me!

AWESOME THING #2:
Fit Healthy Moms is being featured on a super cool mom’s site today, Fit Bottomed Mamas. I had the opportunity to write this article on losing belly fat for FBM. Go check in out. I fell in love with this site the first time I visited it because the owners, Jenn and Erin are so freakin’ funny. They are totally sassy and down to earth – always telling it just like it is. Thank you Jenn and Erin for the opportunity to write for FBM. What fun!

AWESOME THING #3:
This Sunday I will be filming the first half of an upcoming DVD series for Fit Healthy Moms. I have about 15 FHM’s on board to come film with me over the course of the next couple weeks and we’re going to be filming a bunch of amazing workouts – some of my favorite mom workouts I’ve ever used. Best part? Each workout will be 20 minutes or less. Perfect mom-length sweat sesh. Can’t wait to share more about this with you in the next month or so.

In summary, YAY for exciting news! BOO for Starbucks gingerbread!
