Backyard Sweat Sesh

By |

This time of year I love to get outside for workouts. Here’s an awesome full body workout I did last weekend in my backyard. Yes, with the help of my dog.

Warm Up of your choice for 3-5 minutes. I jump roped. You can also jog, do some stairs if you have them, jumping jacks/high knees/butt kickers. Just be sure to keep the intensity light as you get going.

Squat Press
Dumbbell Jump Squats
Mr. Fantastics
Tricep Push Ups
Reverse Balance Lunge/Curl/Press
Alternating Jump Lunges
T Push Ups
Twisting Side Planks
180 Jump Squats
Overhead Dumbbell Sit Ups
Dumbbell V Sit/Twist

For this workout you need 1-2 sets of dumbbells of moderate weight. I used a set of 10’s and a set of 15’s. I found them to be plenty heavy, given the volume of shoulder work in these full body moves. You may find that 5’s and 10’s are sufficient.

This workout uses mostly full body movements to allow for a combined cardio and strength workout. The less rest you take between exercises and sets, the more you will feel the cardio impact. I recommend 3 rounds of this workout with 1 minute of rest between rounds. If you are doing my 6 Week Pregnancy Weight Loss Program, you can substitute this workout for any of the workouts in the program. Just beware, you should not to the sit ups if you have diastasis recti. You can subsitute front plank or pelvic tilts.

These are the best kind of workouts for moms looking for weight loss and fat loss. You get your heart pumping while building strength and lean muscle mass. This is the perfect combo for a efficient and effective weight loss workout. Remember, if you workout like this regularly, you do not need to log a ton of time. It’s about working our smart not long!
